I think of it this way, the huge amount of content in a game is not there so that I will see all of it. I usually finish it first without a guide then lookup after to see if I missed anything or if there’s a segment that requires a guide to navigate. Open world games are easier to stomach since they’re shorter. (Again, please don’t spoil Persona 5 for me). ![]() I know persona 4 has multiple endings and I’m afraid that I might make a wrong choice in 5 that will get me a bad ending. I’m currently playing Persona 5 (no spoilers please), and I’m currently feeling that I’m always missing stuff with all the different dialogue options. However, I don’t think I would have the time now that I’m older to do something similar and hence the conflict. I was later able to replay it with a guide. It was definitely a much fulfilling experience having to figure things out on my own. I remember playing Final Fantasy 7 (known for tons of missable content and items) the first time when I was younger without using a guide. So how do you approach this dilemma? Do you not care about the extra content or getting the best ending and just play as you want? Do you play straight the first time then just reply it using a guide the second time? What if it’s a long game and replaying is a drag? Or do you just go straight to using a guide? In addition, the player becomes more susceptible to finding inadvertent spoilers while searching for these. The debate is whether using a guide will lessen the experience for the player. This applies to RPGs or open world games or even metrovania games where either there are either missable content or choices will affect endings or even to find all collectibles or do all achievements to get a platinum trophy or obtain the strongest weapon or armor.Ī lot of times, getting these is not inherently obvious to the player or they are usually difficult to achieve. If you do happen to run down to your local auto parts store you can check to see if they have some in stock but I wouldn't expect to find anything special.Buy EMAX 24HP 11gal. I did see that a couple of auto-parts stores (O' Reillys, Autozone, Pepboys, etc.) did in fact carry compressor oil but were very limited on selection and quantity. Lowe's didn't have much either and just doing a quick online search I found Lowe's actually had even a smaller selection than Home Depot did so I would definitely call ahead of time to see if they have that stock before you go run down there. I also look at Home Depot and Lowe's and found that Home Depot did have a couple of different compressor oils in stock at my local store but they didn't have anywhere near the selection Amazon had as far as brands and types of compressor oils. To my surprise, there were several different places that offered compressor oil, including some auto-parts stores but whether they were in stock are not at my local store was undetermined.Īmazon had a surprising selection of synthetic compressor oil and standard compressor oil ( here is a link to Amazon's selection), which is always very convenient for those of us who order things through Amazon because they seem to be priced competitively and if you're an Amazon prime member, you can have it delivered right to your door in a couple of days. I was looking around online to see how many places offered compressor oil and if it was hard to find. Synthetics offer better protection from overheating, has a wider temperature range for colder environments and can actually make the compressor run a lot smoother and a little bit quieter, according to a lot of different users that posted in forums and reviews (retail websites) online. Standard compressor oil is much cheaper than a sympathetic blend and is the best choice for light to medium duty use, as far as compressor hours are concerned.Ī synthetic compressor oil is going to be geared towards professionals or people who use their compressors on a more regular basis, especially for people who use their compressors either at least three times a week. Standard and synthetic air compressor oils can both work but really how often you are using your compressor is going to be the actual question you should be asking yourself when deciding on which type to go with.Ī standard compressor oil will work just fine and is recommended more for homeowners and people who don't really use their compressor a whole lot. Synthetic vs, Standard Air Compressor Oil: So why not just go with a compressor oil that is specifically made for the compressor. In a bind, you can use a non-detergent (20 or 30w) motor oil for your compressor, but I assume that most people won't have a non-detergent motor oil on hand for their vehicles, so the "convenience factor" of only having to buy one type of oil is gone because you would have to buy specialty oil anyways. Typically, a motor oil (for your car or truck) is going to have some type of detergent in it, which is beneficial to an internal combustion engine but for a compressor it is not going to be the best choice because it will actually cause a lot more carbon build up in a fairly short amount of time.Ĭompressor oils tend to be the better choice, especially if you want to adhere to the compressor manufacturers warranty guidelines and if you take it in, and they find out that you have been using a non-specified oil, this could void the warranty and any perks that that warranty might have had. Compressor oils are specifically designed for compressors (obviously) and are really just basically a non-detergent type of oil. ![]() It can tell what objects, colors, and shapes are in an image and many other things about it. With the development of new technology, image tagging has changed into a complicated process with sophisticated results. This makes it easy for people to find pictures with the right parts that they need. So, when looking for an image in a library, users can type in the keywords they want and get results based on those keywords. They are then put on the visual with the help of tags already made. Picture tagging is identifying people, places, objects, feelings, abstract ideas, and other aspects that could be related to an image. Image tagging How Does Image Tagging Work? Some software lets you add extra tags for things like colors or emotions, so you can add even more information and make it easier to find the image you need later. Using AI-powered object recognition and facial recognition, the tool searches the image and adds relevant tags based on what objects or people are in the image. ![]() ![]() Inspired by the cycles of life within a calendar year, Koons embarked on the Celebration series in 1994, his most ambitious and technologically demanding work yet. After Made in Heaven, Koons made his world-renowned Puppy sculpture made out of 60,000 live flowering plants, which was a continuation on the Baroque and Rococo tradition. The works were sensationally controversial for their graphic content and bold transgression of social norms. Koons’s combining of rococo fantasy and pop kitsch reached its apotheosis in Made in Heaven (1989–91), a series of sculptures and paintings. Rendered to scale, they are simultaneously exuberant and unsettling. Several of these sculptures, polychromed in bright colors, represented American pop icons such as Buster Keaton and Michael Jackson, cradling his chimpanzee Bubbles. ![]() He collaborated with workshops in Germany and Italy to produce larger-than-life-sized sculptures in porcelain and wood inspired by banal and dislocated images that we are surrounded by in our lives. For the Banality series, Koons changed his materials. Turner Train that was a liquor decanter set filled with Jim Beam bourbon and Kiepenkerl, a life-sized statue of a 17th-century traveling merchant, which Koons created for the 1987 edition of Skulptur Projekte Münster. In the mid-1980s, Koons cast for the first time sculptures in stainless steel, including the Jim Beam – J.B. In 2007, Rabbit floated more than 50 feet over New York’s Fifth Avenue, reimagined as a gigantic helium-filled balloon in the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Over time, these sculptures grew in scale, from the modestly-sized Rabbit (1986) to the monumental Balloon Dog (1994–2000). Koons’s interest in buoyancy was always within his inflatables, which would soon vault him to stratospheric fame: taking air-filled vinyl toys and casting them in polished stainless steel, he once again transformed a cheaply manufactured commodity into a precious object, capable of reflecting a viewer’s desiring gaze. Working with Nobel Prize-winning physicist Richard Feynman, he devised a precise mixture of water and salt that would make the balls float in the middle of the tanks, as if suspended. In 1983, Koons began the Equilibrium series, suspending basketballs in aquarium tanks filled with water. Exhibited for the first time in the window of the New Museum in New York in 1980, they were glossy reliquaries of American consumer culture that cemented Koons’s reputation as a rigorously conceptual artist. His first major works invoked commodity fetishism: titled The New, they comprised vacuum cleaners displayed on or in Plexiglas boxes over grids of fluorescent light. Koons received a BFA from Maryland Institute of College of Art in 1976.Īfter moving to New York City in the beginning of 1977, Koons’s first job was at the Museum of Modern Art, where he worked several years until he began working as a Wall Street commodities broker to support his studio practice. Koons went to Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore and through a student mobility program studied at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago under Ed Paschke, whose technicolor renderings of superheroes and other pop icons were an early source of inspiration. When he was nine, his father Henry, an interior designer, placed Old Master paintings that Koons had copied in the window of his furniture store to promote his son’s artwork. Jeff Koons exhibited a passion for art at an early age. ![]() ![]() He had already been rebuked by audiences in the North for his claims of polygenesis, writes historian Molly Rogers in a chapter for To Make Their Own Way in the World. In an oft-quoted 1846 letter to his mother, written soon after arriving in the United States, he declared: “It was in Philadelphia that I first found myself in prolonged contact with negroes…I can scarcely express to you the painful impression that I received, especially since the feeling that they inspired in me is contrary to all our ideas about the confraternity of the human type and the unique origin of our species….I experienced pity at the sight of this degraded and degenerate race, and their lot inspired compassion in me in thinking that they are really men. But whatever scientific evidence Agassiz believed underlay his research on race, his ideas were profoundly shaped by his racist instincts and emotions. There is no way for me to ever understand that.”Īgassiz, who was one of the most prominent biologists of the nineteenth century and a proponent of polygenesis, or the idea that different human races had different biological origins, commissioned the daguerreotypes to support his hypothesis. “They did not let on that anything was amiss. “Even in a most vulnerable state, they were unflinching,” writes Keziah Clarke ’20 (who encountered the images in a course with history professor Robin Bernstein) of the enslaved subjects. Yet even after 400-plus pages, the violence of the photographs defies comprehension. Who are the individuals in these disturbing photos? Why did Agassiz commission them? What did he want them to show? What did nineteenth-century viewers see when they looked at them? These are some of the questions that the volume aims to answer. Barbash is one of the editors of To Make Their Own Way in the World: The Enduring Legacy of the Zealy Daguerreotypes, a new book of essays and original research on the photographs’ origins, their social context, and how-or whether-modern viewers are to look at them. Their seven subjects-Jack, Drana, Delia, Renty, Fassena, Foulah or Alfred, and Jem-stripped naked, stare straight into the camera, forcing the viewer to “look into the faces of people who were enslaved,” says Ilisa Barbash, curator of visual anthropology at Harvard’s Peabody Museum of Archaeology and Ethnology. Today, they’re the earliest known photographs of enslaved people. The 15 daguerreotypes of South Carolina slaves, taken by Joseph Zealy at the behest of Swiss-born Harvard naturalist Louis Agassiz in 1850, have the eerie intimacy of mugshots.
